How will You WeCreate?

A note from our co-founder Luke Healy

Dear Subscriber First Name,

Today I’ll be telling you about a new “WeCreating” process we have begun in ICN.

After 5 years of starting WeSpace groups, we have learned a great deal about what makes them work well—and some of what doesn’t! ICN has also expanded through our WeCreation of many types of gatherings and practices.

Over the next 4 months we will be incorporating what we have learned with our goal of enhancing the initiation experience through reshaping how we begin and continue in WeSpace.

Our primary aspirations include ways of interconnecting more with the whole ICN community and deepening in our dedication to spiritual practice together.

Paul and I always envisioned an evolving, adaptive, and learning process with WeSpace that would continue to emerge over time. And we’re still welcoming his contributions and presence from the other side!

We will host “living laboratory” gatherings to experiment and explore key elements. If you are interested in being part of this process, let me know or look for opportunities to participate in the near future. Please reach out if you have questions!

Existing WeSpace groups will not need to make any changes. They will have access to any new resources we develop for deepening practice and community.

In each issue of The We-Creator we will introduce you to fellow we-creators—individuals and groups in our community who are a part of co-creating ICN with their time, talents, creativity, and financial support. We are deeply appreciative of all who participate in this beautiful WeCreating.

Community Spotlight:

WeSpace Group

Our lovely and loving group was initiated in September 2021. For two years we enjoyed the intimacy of sharing in a safe and loving environment, developing unexpected deep trust, exploring the mystery of communal meditation, and growing in Whole Body Mystical Awakening. One of our original members decided to leave in October 2023, and we were graced with a new member in February 2024.

We have stayed true to using WBMA as the core of our prayer practice, as there is no other venue that offers this unique and beautiful prayer experience. Recently we have ventured into practicing a collective WBMA meditation – trusting each other and the Divine in a new way of being vulnerable to and with each other.

Our group’s acceptance of one another, present from the very early days of our coming together, has been foundational during our three years together. We have grown as individuals, strengthened by the prayer and trust we share with each other.

Community Member Spotlight:

Allen Bourque

For Allen Bourque spiritual development, both for himself and for those he has mentored, has been a lifelong passion. He remembers accessing his inner still point at age 7 and has used multiple spiritual disciplines to increase his access to it. Solitary reading on spirituality led him to Buddhist and Taoist communities that included experience as an essential element. When he returned to Catholicism 11 years ago, he began practicing Centering Prayer.

After he heard Luke and Paul speak at a conference, he read more about WeSpace and discerned it should be his next step and he signed up. Allen brought many interests and gifts to ICN and has shared them graciously. In addition to becoming a WeSpace guide, Allen participates in Group Spiritual Companioning, guides Morning Meditations (Mon-Fri), participates as part of the team facilitating Whole Body Mystical Presencing Gatherings (M-W-F), facilitating a weekly Aramaic Prayer group. Recently he joined the WeSpace WeCreating Team that Luke announced in his letter today.

In ICN, Allen has “found in myself and seen in others more and more of our essential selves being birthed. I experienced a natural evolution to being more prominently focused on experiencing myself as more deeply a member of groups…I have been taken to realms not possible when ‘flying solo.’”

Finance Circle Update

ICN is blessed with literally hundreds of people who have donated their time and talents to their WeSpace groups and the entire ICN community. We are grateful to each of you for your contributions towards fulfilling ICN’s mission!

We also have a growing group of donors who provide for ICN’s financial needs. Your generosity is essential to continuing ICN’s work and we are grateful for every donation, no matter the size.

The ICN Board is being reorganized and tasked with planning for ICN’s future as we move from our Co-Founder stage to our next organizational stage. The Board is working with the Finance Circle to plan for our financial needs in 2025 and beyond. We will have more information about their plans in the near future.

We can report ICN’s 2024 financial outlook is encouraging. We may need to draw from the $9,491 donated to the Paul Smith Legacy Fund to meet our budget of $116,200. We are grateful for Paul’s foresight and to all those who donated to his Fund. You are helping us meet our needs this year.

Group Spiritual Companioning

Group Spiritual Companioning (GSC) is an ICN practice for a group of skilled and loving peer companions to hold and support each other’s explorations, one person at a time.

GSC is a specifically focused practice and intentional process in which group presence and Holy listening make a deep, safe and inviting space for someone to explore themselves and their lives with greater awareness and discernment.

Like our current ICN WeSpaces, GSC is a mystical practice in receiving what spirit gives us for the person we are holding. Unlike WeSpace, GSC is active accompaniment for the person's stated inquiry/concern/exploration.

Participants have repeatedly experienced significant deepenings of their individual spiritual journeys and their interconnectedness with the ICN community.

There are openings in several groups at different days and times. Please inquire further if you are interested in learning more or joining a GSC group!
