Being Together with All the Saints
This week’s rhythm of loving evolution: Being
From the sacred beckoning of spirit and through our divine becoming, we welcome ways of being who we truly are in Christ.
Here and now, we offer and respond to invitations to inhabit our divine being in conscious and spacious ways.
We make space for being who we are becoming, who we truly are, who we are now.
We rest in abiding within our holy communion, our Christ union with all things.
And we open up to new and deepening habits, the in-habiting of new ways of being that authentically reflect the beauty, truth, and goodness of who we have become in our transformative work and in the grace of the mystical body of Christ.
If you haven’t yet engaged with the Beckoning & Becoming offerings, we encourage you to explore those first:
In this rhythm of evolution, we continue to welcome and move more into the lived reality and experience of how our being is communal.
We are not solo, separate entities navigating this life alone. No one is an island.
We are part of an ecosystem of life that is not just made up of external relations amongst and between separate beings. We are on the inside of a multi-faceted organism that includes all of the earth and nature (more on this next week) and also vast realms of spirit. We sometimes call this the Body of Christ.
And this great communion of saints is made up of living persons with whom we can relate, commune, and WeCreate together—for we are of one body in our true being, walking the ever-evolving path of transformation, healing, restoration, and love.
We do not walk alone.
We can call on the elders.
We can move with the forms of spirit, the presence of saints and guides who are still engaged in this divine communal life.
They are part of our very being.
Our Being, together, with all the saints.
Crucially, the “saints” are not just those who have been canonized. The cloud of witnesses and communion of saints is a vast and multi-faceted community made up of many beings of all traditions.
And, we also welcome and acknowledge the living saints among us in human form–those who can be and are “spiritual guides” in our lives while they are still in bodily form.
With this understanding, this week, we may come into an expansion of our being through a widening of the doors, a broadening of our approach to connecting with spirit guides along the way.
For many of us, we are still getting used to living from this communal being with spirit guides. It may still seem foreign and a bit “out there.” It may be totally new for us, and we’re still unsure. Or even if we have some relationships with guides already, we can certainly still deepen in our being, inhabiting more fully and more regularly our intraconnected nature in communion with spirit and one another.
Our mental understanding and assent to this nature of our being opens the door. Even if it’s partial, with doubts, and not totally clear.
We can take whatever step is next on our journey of communal being, further into the divine reality of our living community.
Our Being, together, with all the saints.
Here are some potential waypoints that may serve along the way of our deepening into communal being.
As you engage with whichever you discern is for you now, we invite you to participate in the process not just as a spiritual practice, but a fuller amorization of being who we truly are, an opening to the divine loving field in which we live, move, and have our being.
We begin with a choice of three recorded guided practices.
Do any of these call to you now?
As you discern, engage with any that arise as a waypoint for this moment now.
You can always revisit them at another time or continue on below for other ways of being.
A New Opening
If coming into communal being with spirit guides is still new for you, or you are wanting to welcome a new meeting, here is a guided process to meeting one for the first time:
MEETING YOUR SPIRIT GUIDES – AN INTRODUCTORY PRACTICE FROM PAUL SMITH
Staying with Jesus
If what you’re feeling drawn to now in your being is simply resting in the presence of Jesus here with you now, here is a guided process to welcome his presence:
SITTING WITH JESUS – A GUIDED EXPERIENCE OF BEING WITH JESUS FROM PAUL SMITH
Expanding the Field
If you feel drawn to encounter different types of guides who we might sense from the distinct awareness of our embodied centers of spiritual knowing—forms of guides connected to nature, animals, ancestors, and more, here is a guided process to expand the field of communal being:
INTO THE CLOUD OF WITNESSes – MEETING GUIDES THROUGH EACH OF OUR FOUR CENTERS FROM LUKE HEALY
In addition to set-apart, guided practices, we can welcome the experience of our communal being throughout the midst of our lives.
Here is a way of being more attuned and engaged with this reality in any and every moment:
In-the-moment Guidance
At any moment in our lives, we can tune into our communal being.
In the midst of our day-to-day reality, we don’t always know what to do, how to respond, where to go in our inner and outer experience. We never have all of the answers, all of the direction, all of the understanding. We have blockages and shadows that limit our knowing. We always have the gift of our unique perspective—and the limitations of it as well. And, we also still have the humility to accept we won’t find it all within.
We are not left to fend for ourselves in the inner realms of spirit, only able to discern by ourselves and apart from spirit in its fuller form, the perichoresis/divine dance of communal participation. We have the divine reality of our beloved community, always present for spiritual support and connection.
We have the capacity and opportunity to tune into the guidance and wisdom, drawing upon the personal presence and forms of the intimate face of God-Beside-Us. Our spirit guides. They are here with us. They have insight and understanding far beyond our limited capacities. Often, they are just waiting for us to ask them.
They can guide us, as they are a great source of spiritual knowing in the form of divine spirit meeting us relationally.
Receiving guidance is a simple process, feeling into what is offered and sensing for resonance with our whole-being. It takes practice, and like any relationship, develops more in trust and understanding over time.
Often, what we receive isn’t an answer or an insight. It’s simply a sense of their presence of attentive care and loving support. They often just want to give loving support and affirmation of who we are in our being, as we are. It is about acceptance and walking alongside through the thick of it—not just knowing the answer of which way to go.
It’s about presence. And their loving presence gives us the comfort, strength, encouragement, and support to be who we fully are in our wholeness, wherever we may be.
We can attune to divine inquiry with our spirit guides at any moment in our day. When a situation arises that calls forth a question, you can take the following steps to begin:
Pause – Engage with whole-being presence with your guide.
Ask – Bring forth the inquiry, question, or choice in loving awareness, asking for their guidance or wisdom.
Open – Welcome spiritual knowing from your guide, in whatever form it comes.
Discern – Sense the resonance or dissonance from what is arising in your whole body. If the first response is not in resonance, release it, and then return to being open and receptive.
Accept – If an answer comes, we accept in trust. If not, we accept in trust that we are enough and our presence is the answer for now.
It’s important to engage in this process with a degree of mental relaxation and ease. We are not searching with our mind for past knowledge or trying to remember something we’ve learned before. Rather, our head center serves in this process by being open and receptive. It is not shut off or ignored but rests in the relief of not having to totally run the show and figure it all out. It has its place, and we can receive from our mind as well, in harmony with all of our centers of spiritual knowing and sources beyond ourselves (like our guides).
Further Waypoints
In our journey with spirit guides, we may find numerous invitations and possibilities of how we may be called into deeper and truer ways of being. The communion field of love is vast and full of creativity—like all relationships.
Who might appear there, or how we might move, is open to many ways of WeCreating personally and in community. Some of these we initiate. Others may be brought to us by our guides. Simply opening to a greater mutuality in WeCreating with guides might be a rich exploration in and of itself!
Often, guides are present to help us along our healing journey, which was very true of Paul’s experience. Sometimes, we can even be drawn into experiences of merging with our guides, coming into greater union. Some connect with specific angels and archangels. We may find greater connection to our ancestors, or perhaps even to those in the future—time doesn’t work just one way in the mystical realms.
How ever you may feel drawn to continue to explore, you are not alone. Bring your waypoints into community. Share your experiences and invite others to discover together!
We live, move, and have our being in this divine field of love,
with all beings.
We are communal beings,
navigating this divine communal life together.
A living community,
The body of God
Our Communal Being, together, with all the saints.
As all the saints.
