Christ The Living Flame – Divine and Human Being We Are

A Christophany Advent of Being Divine Vitality – Week Three

This advent season, we are welcomed into receiving and conceiving together—from the very truth of our being—the manifestation of God-Being-Us revealed and birthed in our lives.

Christophany birthed eternally and particularly in us. Sourced from our divine heritage.

Divine Vitality is the primary energetic of this advent, this arrival of the divine being born anew.

Christ is being born again, ever and always. We can inhabit, bear, and bring forth expressions of Christ in and from our very being.

The sacred manifestation of our divine life and being, embodied here and now, is our Christ incarnation today.

Here I am.
Here We are.
Here All is.

Saying Yes Again

There is another “Yes” that is put before us this advent season. Another inner assent we are offered to accept, if we would.

If we, with Mary, have accepted the great Fiat of consenting to carrying divine life within our very being, this is not our final step. In some ways, it is just the beginning. We know this is not given to Mary alone, but is our divine heritage in the line of God, the Christ lineage we all receive and beget.

The sacred implantation of the seed of divine life within takes but a moment to accept and receive. Once it has quickened and taken root, it is alive and present, always woven into the fabric of our lives.

The divine annunciation is given and received. And what then?

Then, there is simply every day we are graced to walk this earth in which we might hold, grow, and embody this sacred life.

We live in the gestation, the forming, the shaping, the “becoming” of new life within—and birthing it forth in the world.

We are offered, we are asked, if we might dare to live with this divinity in the form and substance of our human being.

Our human being. Our very lives. Our lived incarnation in physical form, here and now. In and through our very bodies, spirit, and souls.

The divine life does not come to take over, cast aside, or banish our humanity. Our human personhood is not a fallen nature, an overriding ego, nor a shrouded veil. The human life we are given is the palpable substance of the Really Real, the exquisite space and time in which we are bestowed the gift of being in our pointed particularity, our precious personhood.

Following the yes of “let it be done unto me,” we are offered the chance to say yes to “what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

This is one of those living questions, given to us by the great poet Mary Oliver. It has no answer. And it has ten thousand answers.

It is a calling to our human vocation, which becomes whole when we find our greatest doing is living from and as our true being—in the fullness of the divine and human together, alive in us. Alive as us.

Or, in other words, Christophany.

“Mary & Elizabeth”

The Light in Me is the Light in You, Joyfully Together

After receiving the divine conception, in Luke’s gospel account, Mary hurries off to visit her cousin Elizabeth in a town out in the country. Mary’s immediate response to receiving the divine & human life within was to go and be with Elizabeth, with whom she no doubt had a deep kinship. She goes to relationship, to another to share in and with the gift that has come. She stays with her for three months, to be together in the time of gestation and forming in community with Elizabeth.

In that first encounter, the life in Elizabeth leaps within her womb in recognition. And Elizabeth is filled with the spirit.

“Blessed is the fruit that is in your womb. From where is this to me that the mother of my Lord would come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting fell on my ear, the baby in my womb leaped for great joy.”
(Luke 1:42-44 Aramaic Bible)

The life within hears, feels the presence, and leaps with joy. There is co-recognition and deep resonance.

As you read the account of this encounter, let yourself feel the life deep within you in wombful response. A meeting not just of Mary and Elizabeth carrying divine and human life, but so too with you as a bearer of this Life.

Receive the relational communion of your Christophany, your sacred bearing of divine and human life held together with others in deep recognition and presence. Who else is present now at this sacred meeting?

Read the story as many times as you feel drawn, welcoming the communion of saints, living and in spirit, to be with you in this great communion of bearing life. In the great joy of the shared light of life, together.

Here We Are – The Fire of Life

Welcome the fire within. The light of life aflame in the core of your being.

At any moment, you may feel it as a flicker or as a flame. A small spark or a blaze burning strong within.

A fire in the belly; a radiance of the heart.

Concentrated brilliance in one place or luminescent shining throughout.

The font of divine vitality and the fire of human life woven together in our core being, here and now, held as one in the space of our heart. The heart of God in and through our human heart.

Divine & human light, shining through, diaphanous and full of splendor.

Alive in us.
Alive as us.
Here I Am.

Will you say Yes to this one wild and precious, human and divine life?

We say yes not alone, but together. Our divine and human being is relational.

For our yes is a joining in whole-heartedly to the family of God, the divine lineage and living communion held and shared in beloved community. The living body of Christ, we are.

Christ reconciling all things within and among.
Healing our fractured and divided sense of being—within and among us.
Integrating our separated parts and estranged relations—within and among us.
Enlivening with joy the co-recognition and we-revealing of who we truly are—within and among us.

Our communal Christ being,
Alive in us.
Alive among us.

Yes.
Here We Are.

Yes.

“For in Christ the whole fullness of divinity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.”
(Col. 2:9-10)

Of this verse, the only time in the New Testament the word “divinity” is used, Raimon Panikkar says, “This is the human vocation!”

“True divinization is full humanization.”

“Christophany refers directly to [the] humanization of God.”

This is the foundational truth of the co-essence of our very being.

Our sacred and precious life in integrated wholeness.

Fully human and fully divine.

Not just as a conceptual understanding or theological assertion, but embraced as a lived reality.

The fullness of flame, the divine fire and the human spark, co-present and conjoined as one.

This is the luminescence and radiance of divine vitality—which shines directly into and through the human torch we hold as our life.

Sometimes, we might even call this embodied shimmering “bliss.”

It charges, enlivens, and ignites our lives with fullness, with joy, with the glimmer of God.

Alive in us.
Alive through Christ.

Here All Is.
Here We Are.
Here I am.

Our human/divine vocation.

Christ, The Living Flame

From the energy of divine vitality infusing our very lives, in and through the arisings of divine inspiration, we are called and drawn into our divine vocation—which is our human vocation.

Here, we say yes to living from and in the energy of our divine and human being, so that we may truly “voice” in the world our greatest giftings and deepest callings.

Again, we do this together, in and as the communion of the body of Christ. An inner and “intra” assent, a deep yes from and within the interrelations of God-Beside-Us—being-us-all.

That we might radiate and emanate from a spiritually vitalized and empowered Christ being, a new and ancient way of living, bearing, and birthing the ongoing loving evolution of Christianity and the world.

The communal advent we share together, the hearth fire of life we gather around, tend to, and even enflame from our very being.

The joyful advent of our lifetime. The gestating, forming, and growing of our beautiful human being, radiating and shining in the world.

Animated with divine life.
Charged with our human vigor.
This wild and precious life.

We say yes to “Christ” in saying yes to the divine and human being we are, the living flame.

Alive In Us.
Alive As Us.
Alive Through Us.

“The life in my womb
leaps for joy.”
