Formed in the Uniqueness of Our Christ Being
A Christophany Advent of Being Divine Vitality – Week Four
This advent season, we are welcomed into receiving and conceiving together—from the very truth of our being—the manifestation of God-Being-Us revealed and birthed in our lives.
Christophany birthed eternally and particularly in us. Sourced from the roots of our divine heritage. Aflame with our human being in this precious life.
Divine Vitality is the primary energetic of this advent, this arrival of the divine being born anew.
Christ is being born again, ever and always. We can inhabit, bear, and bring forth expressions of Christ in and from our very being.
The sacred manifestation of our divine life and being, embodied here and now, is our Christ incarnation today.
Here I am.
Here We are.
Here All is.
Born into Our Precious Personhood
As we approach the end of this advent season, the time for birth draws near.
The birthing of our Christophanies is eternal and particular, always ongoing and right here, right now.
We have said yes to the life divine, and the human life we live each day. We are rooted and sourced in the heritage of God, and so the life we bring forth is also divine. Here and now, in this time and place, in the particular incarnations we are. Life begets life.
In one sense, the life that we bear is our own. Our progeny are the creative and loving offerings we bring into the world. The forms and shapes of the evolutionary becoming of the future. These we have been invited to birth, with God, WeCreating from our divine nature. We are birthing Christ in the world. These are the offspring of goodness and life we labor to bring forth throughout our lifetime.
From another angle, turning the facets of the immortal diamond of God, we are who is being born anew. The birth of Christ, as us. The birth of our Christ Being.
To be born again, as Jesus put it, is a divine rite of passage into being a whole new person. This is not a one-time occurrence nor some kind of external salvation. It is the eternal and ongoing inner awakening and transformation of our lived reality.
In this advent of Being, from the life and energy of divine vitality, Christophany takes its form and shape in and through us. Even and particularly in the singular form of you. Yes, you.
Our deepest identity and truest being is this Christ life shining through, manifesting through us. Manifesting as us in our precious personhood.
God-Being-Us, born unto us, this day, in the town of Yes-I-Am.
Alive in us.
Alive as us.
Alive as you.
The I and the We (and the All)
Particularly in the Western world, we are in a crisis of individualism. Trapped in the singular self and often disconnected from deep and authentic community, so many are mired in loneliness and isolation, confined in the prison of “me.” They are largely cut off from the “We,” especially in spiritual and meaningful ways.
In the often intense and sometimes desperate attempt to break free from the contracted boundaries of the self, the pull of collectivism comes to the rescue. We are not merely individuals, but are a part of something more. This takes many forms in spirituality, politics, athletics, and more.
And it is a true and deeply necessary movement, especially in this time. Certainly, it is a major emphasis in ICN and WeSpace.
However, the shadow of this move, or its over-extension, is when the “I” is negated, denied, or cast aside. Often in the name of humility, the guise of sacrifice, or an error of belief, the singular is subsumed. The self is subjugated and denied. There is only the We, the church, the party, the team. The individual is just a tiny drop in the vast ocean. And in our powerlessness, we look for something greater only outside of ourselves.
The birth of Christ tells another story—which isn’t that of a singular event two thousand years ago. But the divine human incarnation being birthed over and over again in us. As you. As me. As persons, singular and collective. This is what it means to be born again (which always happens one at a time).
In the advent of this birth, we arrive with so much more than our human ego and limited self. We are part of the vast collective of God, the body of Christ. And we are born, each one of us, singularly and particularly, with a unique essence and distinctive beauty only we can carry ourselves in our specific divine/human incarnation and agency.
We might even call this our Christ consciousness, which lives, moves, and has its being in the union of “All.” In the body of Christ, the “We” of communion in many groupings. And in the precious personhood of “I.”
The birth of Christ in you. As you.
The unique Christophany you are.
When We Are Born – Who Am I?
Who then is this Christ being, born anew as you in this unique particularity?
Here, we must delve deeper for our Christ identity. We look not to hair color, skin color, gender, nationality, height, weight, or any other markers we are designated with at our first birth. The distinctions of our divine/human being are much more substantial and meaningful.
Indeed, they are the deepest ground of our true being, the prime source channels of our Christ being we can live from in our day-to-day reality—the prime currents of Divine Vitality flowing into our lives.
They are our divine essence. The deepest identity markers of who we truly are in our unique personhood, in Christ.
As St. Francis used to pray over and over again,
“Who are you, my God, and who am I?”
Perhaps this wasn’t just two separate questions, but could it be that they are also one in the same?
Here I Am – The Womb of God
Here, on the cusp of birth, we have already been born. And we are still being formed within, ever and always.
Here, in the womb of God, we are. Here I am, in my most precious place of being—nurtured and held.
Welcome the womb waters. Welcome the warmth. Welcome the darkness. Welcome the enfolding.
Here is the eternal cradle of life.
For you created my innermost parts, wove me in my mother’s womb. I acclaim you, for fearsomely I am set apart, wonderous are your acts, and my being deeply knows it.
My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in the secret place, knitted in the utmost depths.
(Psalm 139:13-14 – trans. Robert Alter)
In the wholeness of the womb of God, from the depths of the world womb, and in the care of our mother’s womb, we have been formed.
Our innermost parts woven together, divine and human, sourced in the deepest truth of our being.
God has woven together the substance of my innermost being, the unique womb of life I carry within—because of this forming from the very start, before birth. Because God has placed within me the Source of Life.
I am set apart. I am knitted in the holy nature of God.
In the secret place, I have been created in Christ, to be born into this world.
Bearing my unique divine essence, as my precious and wonderous act of life.
The created life of the womb of God.
Alive in us.
Alive as us.
Here I Am.
Born Again in Our Christ Essence
From the first baptism of birth into life, we are now and eternally born again in Christ.
The baptism of water, the flow of divine vitality washing away the false ways of being adopted and put upon us. The undercurrent of our divine essence rising to the surface, carrying us along in the eternal truth of our essential being.
The baptism of spirit, the birthing of our Christ consciousness awakening. Opening our eyes to the blinking lights of the Really Real, the mystical truth of this world—the inter-permeation of God in all things, including our very own self and being.
Who am I?
Remember who you truly are.
In the marrow of your bones, the fibers of your being, the Christ DNA weaves your human and divine essence. Who you truly are in your singular and precious God expression.
Remember.
Within the eternal womb of Origin, from the cosmic depths and Source of all life, you were formed to be who you are.
Your divine essence.
Your personal Christ being,
Alive in you.
Here We Are.
As we truly are.
Alive in Christ.
